Boards of directors, families, staff—each stakeholder has a vested interest in the budgeting plan. As an administrator, you will likely be in charge of communicating the budget in a way that makes sense to your stakeholders.
For this week’s Assignment, you will create a presentation of the budget you developed last week.
To prepare, imagine that you are presenting your budget to an advisory board for your imaginary or current early childhood program. The advisory board consists of one member of your governing board from your early childhood program, two family members of children who attend your program, and one staff representative. Prior to the advisory board meeting, a committee member has made a donation of $5,000 to your program. In your presentation, include ideas about how you will spend the donation. As you develop your presentation, consider the questions stakeholders might have about the budget. Include information in your presentation that will address at least one potential question from each stakeholder.
Your presentation should include the following:
A title page, including the name of your real or imaginary early childhood program and its mission or goal; if you are using an imaginary program, use the mission, vision, or goals you identified in Week 2 of this course
A summary of the budget; explain how facets of the budget support your mission, vision, or goal
Information for each stakeholder that will address a potential question they might have about the budget
A recommendation regarding how the donation should be spent
By Day 7
Submit a presentation of your budget to your stakeholders. You may create your presentation using PowerPoint, Prezi, or another presentation tool of your choice. Include a 1-page rationale explaining why you chose to include the budget information selected for use in the presentation. Use this week’s Learning Resources to support your response.
