Readings/Discussions
Each week the student will be assigned readings from the textbook. Along with every reading the student will be given a “Question of the Week”. These will be questions relating to the assigned text. The answers will be posted on the Discussion Board. Your answers must be thorough, insightful, and most importantly yours not just mere regurgitation of the text. (see section on plagiarism) Each answer must be at least 400 words, think of them as mini-essays. In addition you must give an informed, and thoughtful response (at least 100 words) to a posting by one of your classmates. “I agree” does not qualify as a thoughtful response. Really consider what your classmates are saying; are they missing something? Are they making stuff up? Are they presenting sufficient evidence? Etc. Remember the point of the response is to start a conversation. Each “Question of the Week” is worth a maximum of a hundred (100) points, eighty (80) for your posting and twenty (20) for your response. Please remember that you must always post at least one 100 word response to a classmate, without it the best you can get for a post is an eighty (80).
