According to the text, “Texas is a diverse state with divisions between north and south and east and west. Latinos currently constitute nearly 40% of the state’s population and currently favor the Democrat(ic) party. although their registration and turnout rates are lower than those of other major demographic groups.” Additionally, the authors note that “there are a large number of Latinos living in Texas–perhaps around two million–who are not citizens, some of whom are documented, many more of which are not….”

It is an established fact that the Republican Party has won every statewide race in Texas since 1996. With Beto O’Rourke getting within a half-million votes of Sen. Ted Cruz in 2016, and each year there is a massive influx of Democrat refugees from California, Illinois and New York fleeing high taxes and oppressive regulations and moving to Texas, Given the sheer number of Hispanics in the state (both legal and not) and the influx of Democrats from other states, the electoral demographics of Texas appear to be changing.

Compose an essay of 350 words in which you address the topic of “what would happen if Texas became a Blue (Democrat) state? What would be the impact on the role of government; would there be an income tax imposed; would abortion become freely available and subsidized with tax dollars; would illegals be offered drivers’ licenses and automatically registered to vote as in New York York and California; and finally, would guns be registered and confiscated as in Democrat-controlled Virginia? Finally, could a Republican ever be elected President without the Electoral Votes of Texas? In essence, what do you see happening should Texas become “Blue?”
