PART A: Please compose a three to four page essay, (12-point font, 1-inch margins, double spaced, good spelling and grammar, proper documentation) in which you offer a critical analysis of the issues we have studied this term, regarding death and dying – as these issues impacted either a real life situation you have lived through personally, or with a patient – professionally — OR — as seen in the alternative video below, where death of a family member is discussed quite openly for all.
This essay is your chance to be both insightful and creative — as you make use of the many materials & issues we have studied during this semester in regard to death and the dying process. Your essay should demonstrate a depth of thoughtfulness and reflection upon the dilemmas regarding death – as they presented themselves in the real life situation you choose to analyze – in light of all that we have studied this term. Thus, this is not a paper in merely telling the story of what happened – but a paper where you use what we have studied to help you shed further light on the experience/situation.
Please be specific in discussing various scenarios and moments in the real life situation you are analyzing. It is not sufficient to speak in mere generalities. When referencing course materials used during the semester, which discuss the various issues involved in death and dying, you may use in-text reference citations – rather than footnotes. You may also use any of student or teaching reply post discussion board entries as a reference.
Examples for in-text citations are as follows: (The Last Dance, pg 18) or (Discussion board post, name of author of post, January 31) or (The Passion of St. Thérèse, pg 220).
In your final analysis, please offer a consideration of what you think are the key “take aways” for both your personal learning and your work in healthcare with patients, who are facing death and dying – both for themselves and their loved ones.
We will discuss this assignment’s requirements during our online meeting on Thursday, Feb 11, at 8:00 pm. If you have any questions about this assignment in the meantime, please feel free to ask a question through email. PART A is worth 12 points toward your final grade. Good grammar and spelling are a must – if you expect to earn all possible points. So, please use a grammar/spell check program on your paper. You may use either APA or MLA formats. Just be consistent in whatever format you use. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9JBd0xqBGQ
