Intimate Partner Violence
Intentional violence is an issue that highly affects the quality of family relationships mainly because of the emotional, psychological, and physical trauma. Different models of care foster an effective treatment and recovery of the victims. They include social learning theory, social education, and coping models. The communal learning theory enshrines the ability of a drug addict to adopt positive behavior from peers and parental guidance. It is a form of an effective therapeutic environment that the addict adopts and recovers from substance abuse. The social education model engulfs the involvement of the community, family, and friends in training the victim about alternative solutions to deal with stress such as peer group discussions. The coping model establishes that poor mentorship leads to wrong decisions and substance abuse. It is vital to get training and mentorship about alternative coping mechanisms that improve the well-being of an individual (Schipp & Augustin, 2021). Intentional violence that mainly results in hurting a partner causes significant trauma to the victims hindering resolving substance abuse and developing an effective care model.
Domestic violence is an issue that profoundly influences the mental healthiness of a child as they learn based on the exposed environmental condition. In situations where a child gets exposed to a violent environment, mental healthiness becomes negatively affected. According to the research study by Xu et al. (2020), the instability of a family is a factor that is translated through the child’s behavior at an adult age. The researchers argue that the consequences of a family relation significantly influence the growth and behavior of the child. Intimate partner violence is a family relation behavior that profoundly affects the mental healthiness of the minors.
Domestic violence disempowers the child the ability to view positive social relationships through harsh and conflicting family relations. Aggression is a response condition that serves as a defense for a child in adulthood. In most cases, an individual gets aggressive to show strength and not vulnerability. It is a justification that equips the person with the ability to counter attacks from other people. Witnessing intimate partner violence at childhood age translates as a weakness for the oppressed. As a result, it becomes an emblem foundation for their social relations. Practically, aggression is a mental condition fostered by domestic violence. Furthermore, intentional violence is a prevailing element among domestic violence victims mainly because of the influence of the social learning theory. According to Schipp and Augustin (2021), the victims seek individuals to trust and share their experiences. Therefore, incorporating a child in the model care of domestic abuse project fosters a positive impact on the mental well-being and perception about the social relationships.
Social learning renders the emergence of a dynamic overview of mental healthiness. In most cases, children become cognitively altered to function under antisocial behavioral prospects through social learning. Although it is an independent form of empowerment, poor parenting fosters cognitive structures’ negative development. Individuals further appreciate negative actions at puberty and adulthood without the stress of punishment. In other cases, a person realizes the consequence of witnessing intimate partner violence as a foundation of poor social relations (Wagner et al., 2019). As a result, these victims seek treatment in the form of punishments. An excellent example is a survivor who realizes the negative impact on society and commits crimes that justify the necessary discipline. This form of mental illness increases the victim’s physical and psychosocial health, mainly because of hostile social learning ideologies.
Domestic violence’s dynamic impact plays a vital role in promoting the evolution of the model of care. Van Den Bos et al. (2017) depict that the evolving models of care for intentional violence victims encompass community programs on drug abuse and addictions. The model fosters the development of a therapeutic environment for the mental healthiness of the victims. Substance abuse and addiction are considered significant dangers to both mental and physical well-being of an individual (Jordan & Andersen, 2017). The habit usually starts as a voluntary state of taking a drug and becomes dependent. As a result, the addiction highly impacts the families and relatives of the victims, hence, making them feel embarrassed, guilty, concerned, and angry. In other cases, the victims feel abandoned by the family and relatives due to the drug dependence issue, thus, it leads to the weakening of the bonding relationship.
In conclusion, intimate partner violence is a factors that highly affects individuals and the community’s healthiness. Intentional violence is commonly a reflection of childhood traumatic experiences. A child is susceptible to negative learning experiences mainly because of the essence of the social learning curve. Therefore, childhood experiences affect social behavior and social relationships. In this case, the best model of care for the victims involves developing a therapeutic environment from individual and community participation in the policy and practice implementations.
