Physical and Cognitive Development in Late Adulthood

To correspond with chapters 17 and 18 on Late Adulthood (65 or older), interview an adult currently in late adulthood. After your interview, write a brief paper explaining anything interesting you learned from your interview. Must be a minimum of 250 words.

Questions for this interview may consist of some the questions listed below or questions you come up with on your own. (Please note that you do not have to ask all the questions listed below. They are merely provided to help give you ideas as you come up with your set of interview questions.)

Question ideas:

Are you retired? If so, at what age did you retire? What did you do for a living?

Who are your friends and how long have they been your friends? Have your friendships changed as you have aged?

Technology has progressed so much throughout the years (e.g. cell phones, microwaves, personal computers). Which technologies have impressed you the most in your life?

If you have children and/or grandchildren, how involved are they with you? Has your relationship with your children changed over the years? How?

How has your relationship with your spouse or significant other changed as you aged?

What do you like to do for fun? How has this changed as you aged?

What was your view of the elderly when you were young? How has your perspective of the elderly changed as you have aged?

What is your perspective of the younger generation now?

What do you think have been your greatest accomplishments?

What advice or suggestions do you have for younger individuals?
