History Art Assignment
This assignment asks you to compare the High Classical period in Greek art to the Hellenistic period in Greek art. When you compare please make a connection and don’t write individually while you compare . Do professionally and please use the pdf file that i provided don’t use the other resources. My professor is very strict and she reads everything very carefully and please don’t miss anything.
Begin by pointing out the key visual features (stylistic characteristics) of a male sculpture from the High Classical period of Greek art (like the Riace Warrior or the Doryphorus). Compare and contrast with a sculpture of a figure from the Hellenistic period. So far, this is similar to the visual focus/analysis you did in Lesson One.
Then, consider why these stylistic changes might have happened and what they meant to the people who made or saw the sculptures when they were new. This part can be somewhat speculative but it should come from the lesson. (You can make “educated guesses.”) You can consider all kinds of questions apart from formal or visual. Think about the historical context, which might include military campaigns, politics, or other forces. Watch for clues about Greek life and culture from your reading, the videos, the BBC program, and other material from your lesson.
