Your entry this week should be based on Schivelbusch. What are the important themes you see in this reading, and how are they relevant to us? How does considering the deep history of intoxicants change the way we think of the current day? If we enlarge our conversation of drugs to beer and gin, what does that do to how we think about these substances? Why are some drugs legal, other illegal? What is Schivelbusch trying to make us think about in bring the Industrial Revolution into the story?
