A primary aim in Organizational Behavior is understanding how influencers at the individual, group, and organizational levels influence workplace performance. Concern about these issues often focuses on how worker behavior can be modified to increase efficiency and productivity as means to increase profitability.
An often-underappreciated issue in organizational behavior is worker dignity. The Bible indicates humans are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). Often worker dignity is sacrificed in companies’ pursuit of profit maximization. The Christian study of organizational behavior must uncover and better appreciate ways that companies can promote worker dignity in the course of generating profits and returns for their stakeholders, thus engaging in Biblical stewardship.
Students will analyze human dignity in the workplace by drafting a research paper that includes the following sections:
Historical Overview (how have key theologians discussed the construct?)
Work Dignity Issues (in what ways is dignity lacking in modern workplaces?)
Recommendations (how can dignity be enhanced by specific work practices?)
The report should be written in 12 point, Times New Roman font, and in APA format. A minimum of five (5) professional references must be referenced and cited in the final report. The length of reports will vary but a guideline is two page, double-spaced response for each discussion point (some discussions will require more response than others). Consequently, a length guideline for the completed report is six double-spaced pages (4-8 page rage), excluding title page, references, etc.
