Story # 2 Discussion: Writing Connections. First, in your Introduction, define and describe the term “symbol,” as in the “Glossary of Literary Terms” (1018). Cite the source of your definition and put on your Works Cited Page. Then choose a symbol from each story, “The Yellow Wallpaper” and “Everyday Use.” Describe how each symbol connects to the main plot of each story.
Then connect each symbol to greater society, maybe even a personal connection. This analytical writing is explaining the rhetorical choices (symbol) in an attempt to achieve a particular effect or purpose and maybe reveal something new about the text, known as synthesis. One paragraph per story is sufficient. Engage your critical thinking and share ideas beyond the story.
Be sure to include MLA two-part system: in-text citation and works cited page. The MLA Style Guide is on Contents Page.
A summary of story will NOT earn a passing score. Please read, understand and follow instructions. Your score will be based on how well you explain and support the symbol(s) for each story and follow instructions.
