My Attached Essay: This is an essay I wrote on an analysis of Kate Chopin’s “Story of an Hour” short story. Please rewrite and reconstruct the essay into a new, longer, and complete paper that fulfills the below assignment instructions.
Feedback from my professor on my attached essay: “Overall, this is a good response to the assignment and solid literary essay. You responded to Chopin’s story, worked to engage the text, and critically analyzed the writing. Your ideas are good throughout. Be sure to reference and cite sources of information in your writing; here, the biographical and historical information needs citations. The argument could be strengthened, and the writing could be further specified. For your thesis and topic sentences, work to be specific and make a direct interpretive claim.
(please consider my professor’s feedback and incorporate the suggestions to improve my new essay)
Instructions: Write an academic argument that critically interprets a piece of literature. You will continue our previous work on writing and literary analysis in our longest formal essay, in which you will offer a critical literary interpretation and critique. You will need to research to utilize and incorporate scholarly sources within your paper.
To build a critical interpretation and offer an informed critique, in this paper, you will demonstrate all the skills we’ve been working on this term to construct an essay written in response to literature. You will demonstrate close-reading, use language analysis, and, using researched articles, incorporate source material and apply critical claims within your analysis.
Sources: The paper must include at least two scholarly sources: one must be a critical article about your piece of literature, and the other may be another kind of outside source. The secondary source could include background research, such as historical or socio-economic information, that directly informs and elucidates your argument. You will use the relevant and academic sources to support your assertations. Use in-text citations when referring to information in writing.
Writing: As with all our formal academic essays, you will need: a string thesis (complex, specific, and arguable) that states your essay’s argument; strong paragraphs that support your thesis, focus on a topic, and use textual evidence to support your claims; an organization that structures and demonstrates your overall argument.
