To complete your proposal, please rely heavily on the feedback you have received on your literature review, on our proposal check-in discussions in class, and on the instructions below.
Remember that you will also be presenting your proposal orally. We will also do a peer-review activity in which teams of students will be responsible for selecting a project to fund from among the proposals developed this semester.
Revise your literature review
You will receive detailed feedback from me on your literature review. Please carefully address ALL of my comments in revising your literature review. As you know, your literature review forms the introduction to your research proposal. If you have questions about my comments, please ask!
Why revise your literature review?
The revision process greatly contributes to your learning
I spend a lot of time providing detailed feedback. If you ignore it, I will be grumpy and your grade will suffer!
Articulate at least one hypothesis
Devote one section of your research proposal to articulating and justifying one or more hypotheses. Given your review of the literature, what are your hypotheses regarding your research questions? Cite relevant research in presenting and justifying your hypotheses.
If you propose more than one hypothesis, you may wish to divide this section of your proposal into subsections.
Describe your methods
How will you test your hypotheses?
Devote one section of your proposal to explain how you will collect, organize, analyze, and present your data. Be as specific as you can about your sampling or experimental plan. Describe quality assurance protocols. Explain how you will analyze your data statistically.
This should not be a laundry list of instructions. It should be written in the future tense and organized into paragraphs (and possibly subsections).
Write a persuasive significance section
What are the larger implications of the study and its findings? This section is where you have to convince the reader that your project deserves to be funded!
How you will be graded
Please see the rubric below to see how this assignment will be graded.
Please use references from the literature review plus add more.
Here is an email from my professor –
The Literature Review is the same as the introduction to your research proposal.
After your Introduction (i.e. literature review) comes to your Hypotheses, then Methods, and then Significance section.
