Final Research Paper
The research paper should be about 8-10 pages long and should address an issue that came up in one of the texts we read in this class. It should incorporate the information, ideas, and/or critical approaches in scholarly and non-scholarly materials that you found through research on the internet. Your paper should be different from all other materials on the subject in one or more of the following ways:
Unique thesis/topic
Very different in the targeted audience from the source materials.
More comprehensive. Suppose you found articles on Jekyll and Hyde that treat Hyde or Jekyll as actual psychological cases; yours could differ by combining them to make a larger topic.
More up to date: if you follow a longstanding critical controversy, you can bring up the latest developments with respect to any stage of the discussion.
Other similar distinctions could be used. Illustrations are welcome–illustrating a story would be ok if you write an explanation of your illustrations and their resonance with similar illustrations of this and other works.
Use in-text references (Gourlay 21) and key them to a Works Cited list.
