Chinua Achebe’s article, Things Fall Apart, manifests supreme patriarchal testosterone displaying oppression of all-female gender into being individuals of little value. It steers a demonstration of original and traditional cultures of Africans, predominantly the Igbo culture. The females are just to be seen but not heard. The role of women in the Ibo society was majorly domestic. They raise children, do farming, care for animals, and carry pots of water, foo-foo, and the kola. The male gender saw them as a material possession, a source of children, and cooks. They also provided a workforce mostly for farming purposes. They provided much honor and respect to the male gender upon engagement in marriage. Despite of their inferiority regards, they are exemplified as people with great value and importance to society’s males. They also play the role of painting egwugwu house, which denotes the most powerful and most secret cult in the clan (Kantharia, 2019).

Feminism has been looked down upon since the earliest times of centuries. It implores challenge to cultural norms, religious teachings, and ancient traditions to the society. Incompetence and incapability overrun their inferiority. They are looked down upon due to a lack of respect and the manifestation of inequalities. Despite of all these, they exhibit strengths that are outstanding in the society. They have strong personalities willing to do everything for their beloved ones. Women in the Igbo society are strong and wise, and infer utmost love to those around them. They are beautiful enough to elevate the society’s esteem and establishes strong relationships. On the other hand, they exhibit weaknesses of living with a painful past, and a life full of sadness.

The Igbo culture is essential to its survival because the relationship between the women in the Igbo community fosters comfort and support. The women are regarded as a significant part of upholding the Ibo culture and life based on marriage concerns and the roles which they play. In a male-controlled world whereby the men uphold a character of violence and expecting utmost submissiveness by their women, they tend to bond together in solidarity. For instance, Okonkwo’s wives do not at any time or moment fight among themselves. On the other hand, regardless of Okonkwo’s disappointment, Ekwefi is happy to have a daughter. Also, the priestess attains maximum respect, and commands awe even from the male gender. Instances when Okonkwo depends on physical strength and intimidation, the female gender (women) endlessly deliver services of work thereby fostering peace in the community. Fundamentally, they women are regarded as an integral part of the Igbo’s survival.
