TIPS FOR COMPLETION
When describing the positions of the body, provide a detailed description that would instruct a lay-person on successfully achieving that position.
If a position has variations (such as Fowler’s) include the variations in your description
If a position requires elevation of body parts, include the degrees or measurements of the elevation.
When defining an acronym or abbreviation you will likely find multiple definitions. Use a definition that makes sense for an EMT. For instance when defining the acronym ABCD you will likely come across,” Asymmetry, Border, Color, Diameter”. This is a valid acronym used to describe a melanoma skin cancer. Since EMT’s don’t diagnose and treat skin cancer, this is not the acronym definition you should be listing. The same holds true for abbreviations. When looking for definitions for the abbreviation “SL” you may run across the definition “spinal length”. Since EMTs do not routinely perform exams that would require the length of the spine to be documented, this is not the appropriate definition to list.
Define each of these terms individually (some are completed, feel free to alter as needed) **This is for an EMS/EMT course**
