2. Body of Paper (all sections a – f must be completed for this report).
a. Select a specific minority group from the minorities listed in your introduction. What are your assumptions/preconceptions of the group in which you will be researching?
b. History and key events that have impacted this group in the United States – create a timeline (this can be in general rather than workplace specific).
What brought each group to the United States?
Current demographic information (this can be in general rather than workplace specific – but include how demographics are relevant to your industry)
c. What are the issues and barriers that are particular to this group? How can we meet the needs of this group in the community and workplace?
d. Communication barriers with/among this group (include real world examples of how communication varies among and within the groups). Include communication barriers as it relates to dominant/subordinate or majority/minority groups. Give examples of verbal/nonverbal communication of the group. Discuss the media’s role in portraying this group.
e. Examine potential legal, political, social, healthcare, education and/or economic outcomes of personal behavior as it relates to the minority group (example – harassment, discrimination). What are the legal or legislative rules as it applies to your career/industry? (Review company policies, state laws, etc.). Include legal cases, personal, or professional examples.
f. Identify values, customs, characteristics, community life (in essence, the material and non-material aspects of their culture)
Briefly discuss the following cultural aspects of the group: family, language, food, religion, holidays, music

What did you learn from this project
Restate important points/findings here and reiterate
When possible, save a relevant newsflash or related idea for the conclusion. Leave the reader with this interesting bit of information as food for thought.

At least 5 reliable sources
Include author, title, copyright date, and page(s) where information was found (please use APA format).
For websites, list the name of the site (e.g. The American Association of Retired Persons), the title of the article or section of the site where the information was found, the URL and the date you retrieved (read or downloaded) the information.
Use sources that are recent (no older than 1998) unless you’re using historical or “classic” information. Consult your instructor if needed.
NOTE: Use a resource such as www.citationmachine.net, www.bibme.org, or MS Word’s citation creator to properly cite your references. Simply typing the URL of a website is NOT proper citation and your paper will not be graded if this is done.
