3. Do you agree to this message? “ After watching the Intro video I can relate the idea of the community garden to last weeks discussion. Capitalism has lead people to innovate and be more efficient. And like you said, a member of a community garden doesn’t matter how hard or how little you work because you will still get your worth. This is the problem with an socialist economic system because without individual mandate on having to work hard in order to get your worth, people tend to do as little as possible and become inefficient and lack any desire to innovate. So when you divide the garden up and let each individual manage there section people tended to work harder and smarter than before and the garden produced more than ever. ” Response 100 words.

Do you agree with this message “From the book, right away was discussed as a existentialist and that general theories of human nature leave out the uniqueness of each individual and their life situation. The discussion from the video of “things are weirder than we think” was interesting; thinking of breaking down eating supper to the whole someone chopping wood to each dead animals with someone you mate with…that felt a little out there. Remembering that we are free, that nothing is preordained. I liked how in the book there was a quote of “we cannot cease being free as long as we are alive and conscious”. That we shouldn’t live in bad faith. The example of the waiter where he could be a brilliant pianist is good; driving the thought of we should live our lives to the fullest type mentality. And the freedom to dismantle capitalism, that it was a giant machine we are essentially slaves to. Currently today that felt like those that attain to live off the grid.” Response 100 words.
6. Do you agree with this message “Sartre doesn’t believe in human nature or essence that precedes individuals. Rather our existence precedes our essence; we have to create our own essence. Nothing, not god or evolution, created us for any purpose other than the purposes we choose. Of course Sartre recognizes that we are biological beings, but there are no general truths about what we should or ought to be. The most basic thing we can say about humans is that they are radically free, to be anything except to not be free. Sartre rejects Freud’s psychic determinism as well as the idea of the unconscious. Sartre believes we choose our mental states like emotions.” Response 100 words.
